Dr. Rachel Hosler was appointed Vice President for Student Affairs on September 4, 2023. She oversees all aspects of student life, including the needs of undergraduate and graduate students; campus ministry; campus law enforcement; culture and belonging, residential life, student counseling and health services; and Title IX for 2,300 students. Dr. Hosler also serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors at Walsh University, a role she has held since 2022.
Before this appointment, Dr. Hosler was the inaugural Chief of Staff at Walsh University, working on cross-enterprise initiatives with the President’s Cabinet. She has nearly
20 years of experience in higher education, specializing in student development and experiential learning. In 2016, she helped design and launch Walsh’s Office of Experiential Learning to enhance student learning through real-world applications, preparing students for post-graduation employment.
As Associate Dean of Experiential Learning, she oversaw the Global Learning, Service-Learning, and Career Readiness and Development Center offices, aligning their resources and goals with Walsh University’s mission. These programs are recognized for embedding work experiences into the curriculum through internships, practicums, fieldwork, research, service learning, and global programs. Under her leadership, the Office of Global Learning introduced 20 new programs and doubled the number of students studying abroad in over 13 countries.
Dr. Hosler is a regional leader with NAFSA: Association of International Educators and received the George Hertich Advocacy Award in 2021. She was named Mentor of the Year in 2012 and 2021, a 2019 Notable Woman of the Year by Crain’s Cleveland Business Magazine, and a member of the 2019 ystark! Twenty Under 40 class. She serves on the Board of Directors of the North Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Hosler earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education, a Master of Arts in Counseling and Human Development from Walsh University, and a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Maryville University of Saint Louis, Missouri.
