As a part of the 2019-20 NCAA Division II Basketball Showcase, the Walsh Cavaliers and the Cedarville Yellow Jackets played live on ESPN3 during a doubleheader on Saturday, Jan. 11, at Alumni Arena.
The Great Midwest Athletic Conference doubleheader featured two of the top three teams in the G-MAC between Walsh and Cedarville in both men’s and women’s basketball.
The first contest had the #25 Walsh women’s basketball team tipping off against the Yellow Jackets at 1:05 PM. In a game that was battled in front of an ESPN3 audience, the #25 Walsh Cavaliers women's basketball team won their ninth straight game but it didn't come easy. Saturday's (Jan. 11) contest featured 17 lead changes and six ties but it came down to a pair of free throws in the final seconds.
Directly following, the Walsh University men's basketball team erased a 2-0 lead early and led for almost 38 minutes in a 86-56 win over the Cedarville Yellow Jackets on Saturday (Jan. 11) afternoon at Alumni Arena in the D2 Showcase on ESPN3. Walsh's sixth straight win moved the Cavaliers to 14-2 overall and 5-1 in the conference as they sit third in the Point Ranking System.
Saturday began with a Blackout Bash in the Auxiliary Gym from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. Fans were encouraged to join in on the fun before the game with a Live DJ, games, food and appearances by the Walsh Band, Cheerleaders and Dance Team.
