Lt. Governor Jon Husted visited the Fast Track Learning Lab in Canton, Ohio, to explore its partnership with Walsh University’s Skilled Technical Workforce Program. This collaboration is revolutionizing the HVAC industry by equipping high school graduates, tradesmen, and career changers with advanced skills in technology and data analytics.
The apprenticeship-style program provides hands-on training in HVAC, preparing participants for well-paying jobs in a rapidly expanding field. During his visit, Lt. Governor Husted learned how this program is addressing the critical need for a trained workforce in Ohio, especially as seasoned professionals retire and the demand for skilled labor rises.
Dr. Dan Passerini, Executive Director of Cross-Enterprise Operations at Walsh University, highlighted the significance of this partnership, emphasizing that it not only offers vital training but also creates pathways to better wages and long-term career opportunities. Since the program’s inception, Walsh University has issued credentials to over 1,500 employees across various industries, supported by Ohio’s TechCred initiative.
