Walsh University Wins 2025 Mayor’s Cup Challenge, Raising $83,500 For Athletes

Walsh University has been named the winner of the 2025 Mayor’s Cup Challenge, surpassing its goal of $65,000 to raise $76,000 as of the cut off announcement and $83,500 in total. Malone University was able to raise $62,315 total. The fun and competitive fundraising effort culminated last night during the Walsh vs. Malone men’s and women’s basketball games held at Malone University. Collectively, Walsh University and Malone University raised over $145,000 in support of each school’s athletic programs.

We also want to thank Chick-fil-A restaurants of Dressler Road and Massillon for being game day sponsors for both universities. Finally, a special thank you to Mayor Stephan Wilder, Mayor William Sherer, and our friends at Malone University for hosting this year’s Mayor’s Cup games and for your partnership in the fundraising challenge. We cherish the friendly and longstanding rivalry. Truly, the challenge has been a tremendous win for both our universities.”

The Mayor’s Cup Challenge is a fundraising competition between Walsh and Malone University, celebrating the spirit of giving and friendly rivalry while supporting scholar-athletes.
