For "nearly 2,100" students from 38 states and 31 countries, the search for the right college has led them to Walsh University. Here, on the 136-acre main campus, our students enjoy a healthy balance of academic, spiritual, and social activities. Plus, a Walsh education is also affordable, with 98% of students receiving some form of financial scholarship or aid, and a tuition guarantee.

Benefits of Being an Out-of-State Student

Same Tuition

Out-of-state students pay the same tuition as in-state students! As a private university, Walsh is able to have the same affordability for those both in or out of the state.

New Experiences

An out-of-state college may offer you new cultural experience. A different area of the country will afford you the opportunity to experience new foods, different geography, and perhaps even a change in the weather.  Seeing snow for the first time is just as exciting for a Hawaiian student in Massachusetts as going to the beach in February for a New Englander studying in Florida. At Walsh, students have the opportunity to see all that Ohio has to offer and the amazing culture associated with it!

Gain Independence

Attending college in a new state will help you to develop greater independence, life skills, and self-reliance.

Scholarship Opportunities

There are scholarship opportunities just for students who do not live close to Walsh. Check out the Dowling Scholarship for students who live more than 50 miles away from campus!  These are in addition to merit scholarships offered to admitted students.

Find the Right Campus Vibe

If you like the small campus vibe, coming to Walsh is an excellent way to stay small! Sometimes coming from a small town to a large university can be overwhelming. At Walsh, you will be more than just a number! We want to see your growth during your time here and help you towards success after graduation!

Class of 2021

Major: Clinical Laboratory Science

"Originally from California, I transferred to Walsh not only for the Catholic atmosphere but also for the opportunities Walsh creates for its students. Transferring here offered a change of scenery, small classroom sizes, and a caring faculty that is rare to find at a University. Working in the Academic Support Center, I enjoy helping students through tutoring them. Seeing them understand the material is the best part. The ASC has a calm and relaxing environment that initiates learning. After graduation, I plan to enroll in a cellular biology PhD program in California."
