Class of 2021

The Government and Foreign Affairs (GFA) program at Walsh has challenged me to think critically about the world around me and engage with it directly. I had the opportunity to do this through the Border Program, in which our class studied the relationship between Mexico and the United States and then traveled to the border town of Laredo, TX. The experiences I had volunteering, learning from the community, and gaining real world insight alongside an outstanding GFA professor, both inspired my studies and opened new doors for me. Furthermore, within just two years of being a student in the GFA program at Walsh, I have had the opportunity to attend and participate in two conferences sponsored by the UN Economic and Social Council in New York and by the World Bank in Washington DC. These conferences allowed me to reflect on my learning inside the classroom and apply it in areas where I hope to work in the future. As a result of the meaningful coursework, dedicated professors, and opportunities offered through the GFA program here at Walsh, I feel that I am prepared and capable for the next steps in my education and career.
